Three questions for the rev

Thought this place could use some interaction

Everyone can ask three questions, and I will answer them as honestly as I can.

what is the matrix? the matrix is all around you

Are you my father? I could be, I would guess not however

Are Kayser Soze? This is not a question.

How do we incoparte the spiritual gifts like healing into the emerging church?
I would think they fit in rather nicely, with less hype and showmanship than the big church thing. This should happen organically, not in meetings but just as we live with each other. I remember going over to one of the church members homes to get prayed for one night, the neat part is we got to do it within our community. Others that weren't part of our faith community got to watch as if it were just a natural part of our lives, which it should be, and we had the very natural opportunity to ask if they wanted us to pray for them.

What are your views on healing gifts?

I believe God can and does do miracles, I believe they happen less in our culture because of faith issues, and our medicinal abilities. Meaning often we don't believe God can do it, and other times we don't need to pray we can just go see the doctor. I think we can and should do both.

Hows life? Good, busy, today didn't work as I had a meeting I had to attend.

How's the coffee drinking going?

Mom says you're being published. What's that all about? You better not be lying to mom.

Can I have a dollar?

1. How do you feel about the Holyground these days?

2. Can you explain why Yahweh appears to be so violent in the OT?

3. What is one of your favourite childhood memories?

I went four days without coffee, it was the worst four days of my life :) I am trying to drink green tea more now, it isn't the same

My story "I rode on the train with Jesus" will be published in a book called Australian stories

Can I have a dollar?
Sure, just go ask mom

1. How do you feel about the Holyground these days?

I have looked in a few times since I left, seems like the same thing, the thing people can't seem to understand is that it was not started to be a religious debate forum. Since everyone seems to want it to be that, I left it to them. I know I am a dreamer, but I'm not the only one :)

2. Can you explain why Y-hw-h appears to be so violent in the OT?

Well, I am not sure. One theory would be that life is not as important to God as he sees us through eternal eyes. Another is that some of the stories of the Old Testement were designed to teach us things, rather than be history. Another would be that men are violent and they built God in their own image. And another would be that God evolved in His revealing Himself to us.

I would think there is some truth to all of those ideas

3. What is one of your favourite childhood memories?

The first one that came to mind was the couple of times when my dad took me fishing, just the two of us.

How do you balance faith and feeling in your relationship with God? (If I can't feel--eg. God's love for me--I have trouble believing it. But I don't think I should only live by what I feel.)

What do you think about seeking life direction from God? I want God to show me what He wants me to do and where I should go but some people tell me that maybe He doesn't mind so much what I do as long as I'm living for Him and obeying Him.

How can I combat feeling like a failure?

How's your training going?

How's life post HG?

What's one of your daily rituals (that you are willing to share)?

MS- still thinking about joining you in the post-HG community, but fighting back

That would be like trying to balance the feelings of love for your wife and the commitment you made to her. The fact is you stand by the commitment and live like it is true, and you will feel like it is true sometimes. If that isn't enough of an answer ask again and I'll get more specific.

What do you think about seeking life direction from God? I want God to show me what He wants me to do and where I should go but some people tell me that maybe He doesn't mind so much what I do as long as I'm living for Him and obeying Him.

The great comfort is that even when we make wrong decisions God uses them to help us learn, and grow, so we have some level of peace. I tend to "figure out" the correct course of action, talk to my close friends and mentors (in a multitude of counselors is wisdom), and then pray. I then start walking in that direction with the prayer God, let me know if I am on the wrong track. God can't steer the car if it isn't moving.

How can I combat feeling like a failure?

This is one of my constant battles as well. I feel like I never lived up to the expectations of me. Ultimately I try and focus on Gods view of me, but like I said it isn't easy.

great questions!!!

How's your training going?

training is going well, but my body doesn't co-operate much these days. I need to learn a less aggressive, less upside down, and spastic style of wrestling as I get injured too often now.

How's life post HG?

Good I have looked in a few times, looks like it is the same thing, fighting and bickering. Seems most are more conderned with proving their arguements than connecting with real people and learning and encouraging one another. Which is fine, just not interested myself.

What's one of your daily rituals (that you are willing to share)?

Every morning I wake up and make my daughters lunch for school. Helps keep my perspective right

MS- still thinking about joining you in the post-HG community, but fighting back

let me know, I can start it in seconds :)

This is a difficult question, I have actually faced many times. The answer is, I don't know. I try to explain how I go through these patches of silence as well, and in the end it is these times that really makes me grow.

2. How is coaching Forge interns going?

It is going great, I love the interns, the challenge and encourage me heaps.

3. Why did you choose Footscray as your community?

We wanted a place close to the city, but with a working class, culturally diverse, and marginal social make up. And I really do love it here now.
