A bit of a vent

So, I have had a number of kidney stones. They hurt like hell, they wound up putting me in the hospital. I was in so much pain that it took four shots of dilaudid to make it go away.

And this somehow means its okay for every single person, stranger or not, to tell me I should drink more water? I should eat more greens? Listen you obnoxious wanna be doctor, I drink more water than lots of people I know that don't have kidney stones, never had even one. I eat lots of green veggies, I love them. I have have friends that never ever eat them and guess what...

No kidney stones, not a single f'n one.

So, perhaps it would be a good idea for me to drink six litres of water a day, but I don't get kidney stones because I am a dehydrated, junk food eating slob. I get them because my kidneys for some reason produce stones. Massive amounts of water can help, but I will most likely have to take prescription medicine as well.

Hey mr. I notice you are suffering from alzheimers, maybe you should eat more fish, its brain food you know.

arrrrgggghhhhhhh

no, its not so much my friends, they just care about me, its complete strangers.

You're right not to listen that advice. Is there anything in the Bible about drinking more water when you have hemorrhoids, I mean kidney stones? Does the Bible tell you to reduce coffee intake?

Who do these medical people think they are with their scientific foolishness?

Trust in God, Rev, and drop the medication. God is more powerful than drugs, isn't He?

And drink more water.

I was having a big rant yesterday, and was advised of the following variation of Murphy's law:

"Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence".

I actually did find this reassuring!

Unsolicited advice is always inappropriate... from complete strangers even more so, and everyone ought to be indoctrinated in this fact...

But alas... this gross incivility is not malicious, only stupid. I don't know about you, but I find stupid is more forgivable than malicious...

Although if you biffed the next person who gives you unsolicited advice about kidney stones, I wouldn't personally convict you of a crime if I were on the jury!!!!

You're tired of people wishing you well and providing mindless advice, right Rev?

Well how about I wish you an early and painful death.

That's more refreshing, isn't it?

I think I agree with you David.

Death is refreshing when you dont fear it...hey?

Is that fear with you?

I guess the ideal Christian solution to suffering would be to nuke the human race into extinction. Get in first before God sends Jesus back again.

When you think about it, that is the logical outcome of Christian philosophy.

Let God face up to His responsibility, instead of hiding behind human free will.

you seriously have some issues man,

maybe you should try and play nice again, you are much funner to be around when you aren't a caustic bitter man taking joy in ridiculing people on the internet.

Rev, try to discuss the ideas rather than engage in personal attacks.

I expect better of you.

And drink more water.

Here's something you can get into, Rev.

Tokin' the Ghost.

I like how you speak for a God you dont know David :)

Just like the same man who said Christianity is easy..

You didnt answer my question mate...do you honestly fear dying?

Anonymous said...

I don't fear dying.

Don't know about you, but some days death seems the more attractive option.

Hmm, what's your thought pattern here: atheist, must be terribly afraid of dying, will probably make a deathbed confession.

Not this little atheist. Tell you what, if I do accidently end up in Heaven, I'll just continue being that annoying arsehole until God boots me down to Hell. But I'll make sure I drag you down with me. And the Rev.

So watch it with your impertinent questions.

Mate

The best way to fix your kidney stone...and it won't cost a thing, is to let me hit you in the kidneys three times then follow it up with two kicks! Fun and it would work......the Kiwi cure.

David are you truly being honest..?
You dont fear death..
Or are you just being tough on the Revs blog here?

Its a valid intelligent question.. Im sure you can answer without a threatening " So watch it "

Death is the beginning or the end...I think David you cant disagree with the truth there. Would you be as kind to give me a logical intelligent viewpoint on your thesis of your death?

You can try and drag me to hell if you wish that :)

Death is the beginning? What part of a person survives death?

It can't be the mind, personality, thoughts, memories, ideas, habits, aspirations, emotions or sense of self as these all depend on a physical brain and body.

In other words, if anything survives death, I won't be experiencing it. Indeed can't experience it when all the required machinery has ceased to function.

Once your dead, you're done.

So the only fear of death would be the manner in which it happens. But I don't think that's what you are questioning.

Without any reason to believe in life after death, there is no reason to fear it.

None survive death of course.

Death is the beginning of your life, its already happening to you. Early Greek philos my friend, at any rate the very notion of afterlife is the hot question hey.

The answer for many still goes unanswered, I beleive searching is the key David. I myself will never turn off my journey, nor as a Christian man switch off an open mind.

I like your logical answers, and even more respect them because they are yours.

Let me leave you with one last thing....death is an enigma.
